Pigment Ink is the image point, which is the powder solid pigment dispersion ink. Of course, this is just an image and it is not accurate enough. To be precise, it is a solid pigment that is ground into very fine particles and dispersed in a water/organic solvent using a dispersing agent. It is a suspension/dispersion solution or a semi-solution, which is the same as the pigment of our dyed clothing. The principle is opposite to the principle that the dye ink penetrates into the gap between the dielectric molecules and then forms a color. It is attached to the physical form (using a high molecular polymer as a binder) by a colorant (pigment).Color developed after the surface of the media (such as copy paper or printed materials). Therefore, under the influence of external corrosion, only the outermost molecular structure will be destroyed first, and the structure inside will not be easily damaged. After the outer layer of molecules is destroyed, fading will occur. For the printing color, due to the polymer of the outer layer of the pigment ink, it can not display the color color and vividness of the color well, even if it is printed on paper with flat surface such as glossy paper, it can not print glossy. The image comes, which is why the things printed with pigment inks are generally dull.
Advantages: Printing with pigment ink, even if printed on plain paper, it will not smear, and because the pigment itself is waterproof, it is not easily decomposed by ultraviolet rays, so it is water-resistant and light-resistant, and the printed matter is even outdoors. It can also be used for more than one year without obvious signs of fading.
Disadvantages: Because the polymer of the outer layer of the pigment ink makes it not able to express the color and vividness of the color well, the image printed by the pigment ink has poor gloss; since the pigment ink is a solid pigment dispersion ink, the ink The molecular diameter is relatively large, so it is easier to block the nozzle. In addition, the pigment ink is expensive to manufacture, so the price is also higher than the dye ink, and the price difference is as high as two to four times.
The common colors of pigment inks are still 6 colors (C, M, Y, K, LC, LM), and there are also 4 colors used in some countries and regions. There are relatively few pigment inks on the market. The main ones are printer original inks, such as EPSON inks. There are also some compatible inks. There are also fewer machines for adding pigment inks, mainly piezoelectric inkjets. Printers such as EPSON, other thermal inkjet printers such as CANON, HP, etc. can not be added.
